Herman Clarence "Fudda" Canney, III, 75, of 11 Canney Court died Monday Aug. 25, 2014, at his home after a period of failing health.

He was born Sept. 30, 1938, in Rochester, the son of the late Herman C. Canney, Jr. and Rachel (Weeks) Canney. He has resided in this area all of his life and worked many years as a general manager at Cumberland Farms in Somersworth and Rochester.

He had a great sense of humor and many people stopped by the store just to visit with him. Prior to Cumberland Farms, he worked at General Electric Company and Heberts Market. "Fudda" enjoyed playing golf and was a former member of the Sunningdale Country Club. He coached little league baseball and loved watching hockey.

He helped to get the Somersworth High School hockey program started and served as the Booster Club president for the first few years. "Fudda" was a great family man and enjoyed every holiday with them. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Church in Somersworth.

Members of his family include his wife of 55 years, Arlene (LaFleur) Canney, sons, Daniel and wife Kim Canney, James and wife Sheila Canney; daughters, Brenda Bastianelli and her companion Phil Auger, Suanne and husband Robert Peters of Fla; grandchildren, Casey Dumais, Jenna Toussaint, Shana and Amber Canney, Kaely and Nicole Peters, Kevin, Jaret, and Alissa Canney; two great grandchildren, Bailey R. Toussaint and Jace Dumais; sisters, Nancy Canney, Barbara and husband Carroll Dudley, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin Canney and sister, Margaret "Peggy" Flanagan.

Funeral services will be held Thursday Aug. 28, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the R.M. Edgerly & Son Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, Rochester, N.H. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 2-3.

Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Somersworth, N.H. Published in Fosters from Aug. 28 to Aug. 31, 2014
