Henry J. Wathen, 69, a resident Sheep Creek community north of Henry for the past twenty years, passed away at 3:40 Tuesday afternoon at his home following an illness of several months.

Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at two o’clock from the Methodist Church in Henry, with the Rev. Fred Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Morrill cemetery.

Mr. Wathen was born in Dubuque, Iowa, November 2, 1862, and was 69 years, 11 months, and nine days of age. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wathen and was one of ten children.

He grew up in the Millville, Clayton County, Iowa area.

On May 14, 1883 he was united in marriage to Nettie Dellann Torrey.

They came to Nebraska in 1888 and resided in the state ever since, with the exception of two years in Wyoming. They came to the Sheep Creek community, nine miles north of Henry, in 1912(Townsend.Twp,Sioux.Co,NE), where he lived until death.

Surviving him are his widow, three sons and two daughters: Will, Albion, Nebr; Frank and Earl, Morrill; Mrs. Bertha Maricle, Boone, Nebr., and Nellie, Morrill, and other relatives and friends.
