John William Carr, age 57, of Maryville, TN returned home to our heavenly Father on Monday, March 11, 2013. John retired from the United States Air Force as highly decorated Master Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service. During his accomplished career, he served with Unit 20 CRS (ACC) in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He also served with the 4450 TG Green AMU, aka "The Dragons", where he was an Avionics Evaluation Technician and a Senior Enlisted member in development and analysis of Stealth technology. John received many awards and accolades for his contributions and innovations during his career, such as The Air Force Commendation Medal, The Air Force Achievement Medal, Certificate of Recognition for election as Squadron Maintenance Professional NCO of the year in 1988 and many more. In heaven, John will be reunited with his father, John N. Carr Jr. of Maryville, his grandparents, John and Litha Carr of Jefferson City, TN and Wilhelm and Pauline Nicolay of Trier, Germany. John's memory will be carried on by his loving family: his mother, Elly Carr of Maryville, his brother Michael E. Carr and wife Anita of Columbia, SC, his sister Sonja A. Smith of Maryville, and his brother Herbert Dockery of Maryville, his son and daughter Laura and Jeff Carr of Nevada, his niece Ashley Smith and husband Ernest Kemper III of Maryville, niece Stacy Jordan and husband Jeff of Houston, TX, nephew, Eric Carr and wife Graham of Columbia, SC as well as many great nieces and nephews. John was a brilliant mind, caring son, loving brother and will be truly missed. Per his wishes, a celebration of life will be held at his family home on Saturday, March 16, 2013 from 1:00 until 4:00 PM. The address is 1419 Parkside Drive, Maryville, TN 37803 and all family and friends are welcome. John's interment will be private and for family only.
