Leo E. Gutmann, a gentle soul, has passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 under the loving care of Kobacker House. He was born on April 3, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Harold E. and Hattie Mae White Gutmann.

Leo grew up in Clintonville, with fond memories of times at the Olympic Swim Club. A graduate of St. Charles Preparatory High School, Class of 1956, he went on to attend The Ohio State University. He served with the US Army National Guard, and retired from the State of Ohio, Department of Taxation in 1999.

Leo was a loving family man, who enjoyed spending time with his family at their cabin on Seneca Lake. An avid Buckeye fan, he made memories with friends and family on the golf course and basketball court.

He is survived by his loving wife Gail, “Cookie”, whom he has known for 36 years; children Kenneth Gutmann and Kathy (Jack) Lewis; step--children, Eric (Judy) Sherer and Erin (Paul) Sherer-Krietler; grandchildren Ashlee, Amber, Kirk, Rob, Josh, Jake, Rachel, Justin and Kyleigh; step-grandchildren Amy (Colby), Jenny, Megan, Ellie and David; three great-grandchildren; brothers Paul (Rosemary) Gutmann and Roy (Margaret) Gutmann; sister Mary (Renaldi) Conti; nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road in Upper Arlington. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am, Friday, September 26, 2014 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 1420 Grandview Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43212. Msgr. John K. Cody, Celebrant. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery.
