Elizabeth Anne “Gee-Gee” Varner


Elizabeth Anne Varner of Savannah, born on January 5th, 1953, passed away at Hospice on the 26th of September, 2014.

Elizabeth was born to the late Ned and Cora Sue Tatum Varner in Savannah GA. She is survived by her three sons: Jack Tarleton and his wife Lola of Dover, DE; Joe Tarleton and his wife Kim of Rincon, GA; Frank Tarleton Ford and his wife Tara of Bear, DE and five beautiful grandchildren. She is also survived by her three brothers: Charles Varner of Hilton Head, SC; Lee Varner and wife Kathy of Savannah, GA; John Varner and wife Jane Lee of Notasulga, AL; and also by her very good, lifelong friend Jack Meyer of Savannah, GA and their puppy Sugar.

Elizabeth was a devoted mother, sister and friend. She loved animals and going to church. She was an Atlanta Braves fan and watched as many of their games as she could. Elizabeth enjoyed crafts and made beautiful stained glass pieces as well as jewelry. She was a successful daycare provider for many years and children enjoyed being in her company as much as she enjoyed teaching them.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Ned Varner Jr. and William Martin Varner and sister Susan Ruth Varner. The family is grateful for the amazing service provided to Elizabeth in recent weeks by the wonderful staff at Hospice Savannah.

Interment will be private at Magnolia Cemetery in Augusta, GA. A memorial gathering is being planned for close friends and family on October 5th 2014.
