OBITUARY:

Clarence M. Houpt

Clarence M. Houpt, 81, 505 S. Morton St., Warsaw, Ind., died at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 1983, at Prairie View Rest Home, Warsaw.

He was born September 3, 1902 in Sullivan to Roy and Mary (Robertson) Houpt. He lived in Warsaw for the past ten years after having moved from Speedway. He was the former restaurant operator of the *-- Sandwich Shop in Speedway from 1932 to 1952. He also operated the *-- Motel at Kentucky Lake, Benton, Ky., from 1952 to 1972. He operated the first post office in Speedway. He was a member of the Speedway Christian Church, the Masonic Blue Lodge of Speedway and the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. He married Lois R. Brower November 18, 1923 in Sullivan and she preceded him in death on July 8, 1983.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. *--, Warsaw; one brother, Gene Houpt, Speedway; a sister, Mrs. Mary Frances Armstrong, Speedway and one granddaughter, *--, Warsaw.

Services are set for 7 p.m. Friday at the Chamness Funeral Home, Warsaw, with the Rev. Duane Stuart officiating. Burial will be in Center Ridge Cemetery where graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. John Lyttle at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Miss Dorothy Houpt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Houpt of East Washington Street and Floyd Workman, son of Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Workman, of west of this city, were married Sunday morning at eight o'clock at the Christian parsonage with the Rev. Hoffman reading the vows. They were accompanied by Miss Lois Brower and the bride's brother, Clarence Houpt.

At nine o'clock, Mr. and Mrs. Workman accompanied Miss Lois Brower, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brower of North State Street and Clarence Houpt to the Baptist church where they were married with Rev. A.A. Cohn performing the ceremony.

The happy couples left immediately after the ceremonies for Indianapolis where they will spend their honeymoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Houpt will be at home after a few days to their many friends at their home in West Johnson Street.
