NATIVE OF CALUMET; SERVICES PLANNED IN TOWNSHIP
William C. Bergen, 61, of Bergen Beach, died unexpectedly Tuesday night when returning from ice fishing. He farmed in the Town of Calumet until moving to Bergen Beach in 1960. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Town of Calumet. Born Aug. 6, 1902, in the Town of Calumet, he was the son of Henry H. and Anna Sattler Bergen. He married Beatrice Burg in the Town of Calumet Feb. 24, 1927. Surviving are the widow; one son, William H. Bergen of Seattle, Wash; one daughter, Mrs. Joseph Knepfel of Neenah; two sisters, Mrs. Helmuth Albrecht of Rich Lake and Mrs. Elmer Schussman, Route 3; four brothers, Henry J. Bergen, city; Bernard of the Town of Calumet, Fred of the Town of Taycheedah, and Orlando of Plymouth; and five grandchildren. A sister and a brother preceded him in death. The body will lie in state at Candlish chapel after 2 p.m. Thursday and at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in the Town of Calumet after noon Friday. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Otto Schroedel at the church at 2 p.m. Friday. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
