Leo Peter Brockpahler was born to Henry and Margaret (Schiltz) Brockpahler on May 5, 1906 in Bancroft, Iowa.

In 1913, when he was 7 years old, he moved by train with his family to Sebeka, MN, where he was raised. He attended school at Rockwood Township District 18.

He met Edna Halbrehder when she came to teach at a school east of Blue Grass, Minnesota (Wadena County). They were married June 21, 1932 in Browerville, and farmed in Rockwood Township their entire lives, and were members of St. Hubert's Catholic Church, Blue Grass.

Leo Brockpahler died at his home at the age of 90, on June 11, 1996. He was survived by his wife Edna; daughters Margaret (Don) Richter of rural Wadena; Arlene (Pat) Flanagan of Hoyt Lakes, MN; Delores (John) Malerich of Minneapolis; sons Buck (Betty) Brockpahler of Sebeka; and Ronald (Karen) Brockpahler of Sebeka; sisters Susie Kern of Blue Grass and Gertrude Scheller of St. Michael; brother Walt (Marian) Brockpahler; 25 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, one daughter-in-law, one grandson, one great-grandson, two sisters, and one brother.

Funeral services were held June 15, 1996 at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Blue Grass, with the Rev. Tom Becker officiating. Pallbearers were Larry Richter, Eugene Richter, Mark Brockpahler, Jim Brockpahler, Peter Brockpahler, and Mike Brockpahler. Internment was at St. Hubert's Catholic Cemetery, Blue Grass, with arrangements provided by Cardini-Behrens Funeral Homes of Sebeka and Menahga.
