Doris Rebecca Garner was born Oct. 9,1919, in Dublin, GA, the eighth of nine children of Robert F. Garner and Anna Perry Garner. She graduated from Berry College with a degree in education and worked as a teacher, visiting teacher and curriculum director in Laurens County and Dublin,GA, school systems. She was married to the late Kelso C. Horne, Sr, also of Dublin.
She is survived by her son, Kelso C. Horne,Jr, her daughter-in-law, Susan W. Horne, of Dahloenga, and grandsons Justin W. Horne,Dahlonega, Vaughn G. Horne, Carrizo Springs, Texas, Kelso C. Horne,III and his wife Ronette M. Horne, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and great-grandchildren Kathleen-June G. Horne and Kelso C. Horne, IV. She is also survived by her brother , Ralph Garner, and her sister, Sarah Register, both of Dublin,GA, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Feb. 27th, at Berea Baptist Church with interment to follow at the Dahlonega Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Berea Baptist Church building fund or the Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center
