Harriet and Norman went to live with their Uncle Christian Fetzer in North Dakota. Dorothy went to live with her grandparents John and Regina Fetzer, in North Dakota and Clifford went to his Aunt Emma H.(Rittmiller) Wells also in North Dakota.
His second marriage was to Lillie Martha Boettcher, on April 2, 1925 Brown County, South Dakota. She was 19 years old. Gottlieb was 26 years old. They had four children together:
