Cory E. Hins, 62, Tappen, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014, at VA Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota, after a five year battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 3, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tappen, North Dakota, with Rev. Jordan Ertl officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM until time of service at the church. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota.

Cory was born November 20, 1951, at Jamestown, North Dakota, to Reuben and Luella (Kemmet) Hins. He was raised and educated in Tappen, where he graduated from high school in 1969. Following high school, he served in the US Army. He worked for many years in commercial construction between Florida and Alabama. In 2009 he moved back to his hometown, Tappen, where he remained until his death. Whenever asked, “how are you doing?” he would reply, “fantastic!”

Cory enjoyed reading, fishing, riding horse, playing pool, and other games–anything to hang out with his friends and family.

He is survived by his father, Reuben Hins, Tappen; three sons, Lance Hins, Travis (Rachel) Hins, all of Miami, Oklahoma, and Calin Hins, Colorado Springs, Colorado; one sister, Cindy (Roger) Hasse, Tappen; three brothers, Tim (Margaret), Bemidji, Minnesota, Kirby (Rita), Milbank, South Dakota, and Lance (Cheri), Steele, North Dakota; two grandchildren, Shane and Nate; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Cory was preceded in death by his mother; two sisters, Mae Hins and Melinda Hins; and nephew, Ross Hasse.
