Adam T. Stewart, 31, of Virgin, Utah, an avid adventurer, died September 5, 2014, the result of a bear attack, while conducting research for a US Forest Service project in the Bridger Teton National Forest, Wyoming.

An enthusiastic cyclist, backpacker, nutritionist, ardent environmentalist and Wilderness First Responder, Adam practiced and promoted the virtues of a healthy lifestyle. After earning his degree in Environmental Science from UBC, Vancouver, he lived, worked and traveled in a variety of locations across North America and abroad. Adam stood atop Mt. Hekla, Iceland and went scuba diving along the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. He planted trees in British Columbia. He tagged sea turtles in Costa Rica and migratory birds in Alaska and the Farallon Islands. He solo hiked the west coast of Scotland and northwest coast of Ireland. He backpacked through Europe. He cycled across the USA. Adam participated in endurance tests of The World's Toughest Mudder/Spartan races and cycling competitions. He was a rafting guide in New Mexico and an outfitter in Zion National Park. Adam led by example, always exploring opportunities for learning and living life to the fullest.

Adam was the son of Tom and Cathy Stewart of Brentwood, Tennessee; brother of Emily Stewart, San Diego, California, and Lauren Stewart, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; and grandson of Ruth "Goldie" Moore of Plattsburgh, New York, all of whom shared in his many adventures. He was a dependable friend and caring acquaintance of countless people encountered during his travels. Adam's memory will be cherished and his physical presence missed by those who know and love him including his many aunts, uncles and cousins from the North Country.

Adam was passionate about conserving the Earth's resources; to honor his memory, please take a few moments to support the environment - recycle, go for a bike ride, enjoy the outdoors.

The family of Francis "Bud" Moore, Adam's grandfather, would like to thank everyone who made donations in Bud's memory for Team Adam to The Search & Rescue Unit of the Fremont County Sheriff's Department, Lander, Wyoming.
