Suggested edit: Ok2Explore indicates that George W. Sweet died in Creek County, OK on December 21, 1922. George's Fold3 Civil War pension card corroborates that date and it, along with his obituary, indicate he more specifically died in Drumright. The 1900 and 1910 US censuses indicate he was born in Ohio.
His obituary, from the December 29, 1922 edition of the Drumright News (p. 2) states:
"DEATH REMOVES AGED RESIDENT
Sons Bury 'Old Timer' in Cemetery at Chandler - Was Union Soldier
Death Thursday night removed from Drumright one of the real old timers of Oklahoma in the passing away of G. W. Sweet, a resident in Creek and Lincoln counties for 27 year[s] and an old union soldier. He was 81 years. Death occurred at the home of his son, J. A. Sweet, Noble and Skinner streets.
In addition to this son Mr. Sweet left three other sons and one adopted, Pete Shuey. Of these men all but one live in Drumright. Those living here are J. A. Sweet, Thomas Sweet, Lafe Sweet and Pete Shuey. Claude Sweet of Colorado Springs arrived here in time only to greet his father before death came.
The aged man has been in ill health, from complications of heart disease for four years. However it was not until a week ago that he became helpless.
The body was taken to Chandler and interred in the Christie cemetery there. Mr. Sweet was a farmer all his life with the exception of the few years as a soldier and after he became too old to work."
