Philip L. Carlson

October 30, 1941 - March 12, 2006

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Dayton, OH, by his adoring adoptive parents, passed away after a hard battle fighting myelodeysplasia that became leukemia. He was 64.

Throughout his battle he never lost his beautiful smile and his desire to be with friends and loved ones. Anyone that met him loved him, and he only saw the good in people.

He is survived by his ever loving partner of 39 years Richard Davis; Richard's family who called him son, nephew and little brother; his parrot and friend of 29 years Amiga; and an abundance of friends.

Having worked for Pacific Bell for 30 years he took early retirement in December of 1999 to pursue his love of life.

Phil had an ardent passion for classic cars in particular the Rolls-Royce and Bentley marque.

Other interests included travel, especially cruising, opera, theater, museums, long walks, and life in general.

A 29-year resident of Belmont, CA, he and Richard moved to San Diego in 2001 to be closer to his beloved ocean and the ideal climate. Taken from us way too soon, he will always be in our hearts.

At his request he was cremated and there will be no services.

He said, "I want people to remember me smiling."

Donations to the Myelodysplasia Foundation, POB 613, Annapolis, MD 21404.
