Mary Rodrigues Olson, 88, formerly of Ludlow Road, Middletown, RI, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. Clare Nursing Home, Newport, RI, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late MSGT. James Robert Olson.
She was born in Newport, RI on August 6, 1926 to the late Vincent Rodrigues and Isabel Viera Rodrigues and spent her childhood in Madeira Island, Portugal.
In later years, she was a companion/caregiver to the elderly.
She was a daily communicant of Jesus Saviour Church and was a faithful member of the Corpus Christi Third Order Carmelites.
She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Emmanuel, Joseph and Vincent Rodrigues; and sister, Maria.
She is survived by her children, her brothers, her sister, eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that she loved.
A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway & Vernon, Newport, RI.
Committal prayers will be held at St. Columba Cemetery Chapel with burial in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown.
