Andrew Brown was born (date is estimate based on age of son John) to unknown parents, I presume in Virginia. The family was living in WA. County VA at the time his son John Brown was born in 1801, according to John's death notice in a newspaper in Paola, KS. Andrew's wife's name is unknown.

A personal property list in 1822 for Tyler Co. WV. listed Andrew Brown, John Brown and Andrew Jr. as farmers.

Andrew Brown was a witness for the signing of Obediah Peden's will in 1822. Evidently they were friends and neighbors.

John Brown met and married Rachel Peden a niece of Obediah Peden on July 7, 1827 in Tyler Co. WV. Their first child, Alexander Peden Brown was born Nov. 25th, 1828 in Sistersville, Tyler Co. WV. The little family then moved to Hamilton,Ohio where Israel was born in 1831.

Andrew Brown and his family were not in the US Census in 1830 in Tyler County, WV. so may have moved with John and his family when they moved to Hamilton,Ohio. John's obituary told of him building a flat boat and going down the Ohio river to Indiana. They ended up in Eugene, Indiana, where John worked at a mill.

I located an Andrew Brown, who I believe is John's father in Vermillion Co. IN. Andrew purchased a homestead Doc. # 22559 on Mar. 18th. 1837. He purchased the West 1/2 of the NW Qtr. of Section 21 in township 17, a total of 80 acres. He also purchased Doc. # 22560, East 1/2 of SW qtr of Sec. 21 of twp. (?) this was also 80 acres, so a total of 160 acres.

In 1840 Andrew Brown (could be Andrew Brown Jr.) purchased 2 lots, # 71 and #72 on High St. Eugene, Vermillion Co. IN. John Brown owned lots 93, 94, 95 and 96 on the same street.

Andrew was found on the 1840 US Census for Clinton Twp., Vermillion Co. IN. showing him to be between the age of 60 to 70 years and his wife 50 to 60 years. They still had 3 daughters at home, 2 between the ages of 10 to 15 and one age 15 to 20.

Andrew could not be located in the 1850 US Census, evidently he had died so his date of death is estimated at 1845. Please contact me if you have any information.
