Ida Matilda Mann Kay (1877-1942) married John Sanford Kay (1876-1956) in 1898. They were the parents of four children, Vernon Haskell Kay, John Wayne Kay, Harold Kay, and Mary Blanche Kay Campbell.

Matilda Mann Kay was a member of the Baptist Church, but she attended Midway Presbyterian Church within a stone's throw of the Kay Farm. All the John Sanford & Matilda Mann Kay children were members of the Midway Presbyterian Church, and Vernon Haskell Kay is buried there. The others are buried in the "Chimes" Section of Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.

Ida Matilda Mann Kay was the daughter of Alfred K. Mann and Margaret McCoy Mann(1840-1902), who are buried at Neals Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Anderson County. Her maternal grandparents were John McCoy d. 1845 and Eliza Ann "Annie" Massey McCoy (1822-1893) and buried at Neals Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Among her siblings was an adopted brother, William Henry (Wooten) Mann, who served in World War I and who is buried at New Silver Brook Cemetery in Anderson, SC. He lived most of his life in Augusta, Georgia, and was married to Cannie Kellett. He was always affectionately referred to as "Uncle Bill Mann."
