Civil War Union Soldier. He was enrolled in the 37th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on June 20, 1864, and was mustered in as a Private in Company C on June 23, 1864. He served with his regiment as it participated in garrison and fatigue duty in the trenches of Virginia, and was honorably mustered out on October 1, 1864.
