Born on January 25th, 1914 in Rexton, New Brunswick, Canada, Fred Thompson was a veteran of WWII as a member of the Canadian Army. He served in the United Kingdom and continental Europe with distinction until returning to civilian life in 1945. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defense Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp as well as the war medal 1939-45. A longtime resident of Ancaster, Ontario, Canada, he was predeceased by his wife Zetta Lewis in 1982. At the time of his passing, he left his partner Winnifred Whitman of Halifax, Nova Scotia, his son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Evelyn Thompson of Ottawa, Ontario and two grandchildren, Michael and Susan Thompson.
