Becker, Irene Celestine (Osesek)

Irene Celestine (Osesek) Becker, two months shy of her 100th birthday, the Matriarch of the Osesek Family, died on Wednesday evening, October 1, 2014 at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

Irene was born on December 5, 1914, the third child, and first daughter, of John and Pauline (Drill) Osesek. On September 7, 1937, she married Ted M. Becker at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Irene and Ted celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 7, 1987. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2005. Irene attended St. Mary's Catholic School and was employed at the National Tinsel Factory and Lapcor Plastics. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a current member of St. Francis of Assisi.

Irene was a quiet, gentle woman who very much loved her home she shared with Ted for over 68 years and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and baker and her bread stuffing, knepples and sugar cookies have been greatly missed. Irene outlived all her siblings, and lived longer than her parents. Irene was extremely proud of her Polish heritage, loved her Catholic faith and prayed for others through her daily rosaries. She enjoyed listening to the radio personalities at WOMT Radio for over 70 years, and listening to Brewer games. "Irene" means "peace" which she now finds with the Lord.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Ron Muench of Manitowoc, five grandchildren, Laurie Lemberger (Kevin) and Jody LeGreve (John), Two Rivers, Tim Lemberger (Kris), Manitowoc, Derek Muench (Breeya) of Sheboygan, and Lesley and Skyler Teigen of Hudson, Wisconsin, four great grandchildren, Austin Lemberger, Ashley Salentine, Hunter LeGreve and Huck Julian Teigen and one great, great grandchild, Brynn Leigh Salentine. She is also survived by special cousins, Brother Michael Kadow of Racine, and Franek, Yvonne, Krystian Osesek of Kranenburg, Germany, Remco of Netherlands and other nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, daughter, Nancy Lemberger, her parents, two brothers, Florian and Edwin Osesek, three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lucille and Elmer Koch, Dolores and Victor Ceaglske, and Susan and Robert Vogel, her granddaughter's husband, Mathew LeGreve and a very special cousin, Annelies Osesek of Prinsenbeek, Netherlands.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday October 6, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 South 21st street. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier. The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM on Monday October 6, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, 1114 South 21st Street.
