Mrs. Richardson was a daughter of Daniel Helms and Betsy Barnhouse, and in 1859 she married Henry Richason in Belmont County. They had a son, Henry B. Richardson, 4 months old in the summer of 1860, but her husband had apparently died by then. Caleb and Mary Richardson lived next door to her on one side, and Daniel and Betsy Helms lived on the other side. Isaac Richardson was apparently helping her to farm, and in 1861 Rachel married him. Isaac and Rachel raised Henry B. and had at least these other children:
