ST JOE - MRS MARY ELLEN BAKER, 83, St Joe, died in Glen Oaks Nursing Home at 5:30 am today. She had been hospitalized at DeKalb Memorial Hospital and transferred to Glen Oaks nine days ago. Death was caused by an apparent stroke following a six weeks illness.

Mrs Baker was born Oct 6, 1886 in St Joe and married Frank Baker in September 1905 in Auburn. The couple resided in St Joe. Mr Baker died in 1953.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs Lucille Yates of Butler, and Mrs Naomi Draggoo pf Osseo MI; three sons, Clayton and Harold, both of St Joe and Eugene pf Waterloo; a brother John Dilley of Waterloo; 23 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Concord and the Concord Township Home Demonstration Club.

Services will be conducted at the Church of Christ, St. Joe, at 2 pm Wednesday with the Rev Larry Beard, pastor of the Butler Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, St Joe. Friends may call at Baidinger and Walter Funeral Home, Spencerville, after noon Tuesday.
