Rites for CONOVER
George H CONOVER, 77, long-time resident of Fairfield, died at 1:30 a.m. today at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks. He had resided at the Nelson Nursing Home for six years.
Funeral services will be held at the Weston Behner Funeral Home on Thursday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jerry Yancey officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will be at the Weston Behner Funeral Home to receive friends on Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
CONOVER was born June 8, 1895 in Henry County, the son of Ed and Emma REINER CONOVER. On Aug. 11, 1915 he was married to Mabel SCHLIEF, who died July 30, 1964.
He had lived in this community since 1915 and was employed at Dexter Company for over 40 years. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge (sic - Eagles aerie).
Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth BREWER of Fairfield; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and also two sisters, Mrs. Edna PEAS of California and Mrs. Mina BATES of Salem, Ore.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, three brothers and one son.
