Hattie Parrott Leonard of Trappe, MD died on August 27, 2013 at Chesapeake Caregivers. She was 99.

Born July 29, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Henry P. and Mary Diefenderfer Parrott. After graduating from Trappe High School in 1933, she married James C.R. Leonard and they made their home in the Island Creek area. She worked in the meat department of Acme Markets in both Easton and St. Michaels and was also devoted to the care of area children for many years. Mr. Leonard died in 1984.

A lifelong resident of Talbot County, she was a member of the Trappe United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women of Trappe and the Trappe Homemakers.Mrs. Leonard is survived by one son, James R. Leonard of Trappe, MD; three grandchildren, David C. Leonard, Nancy L. Ganate and Linda Zimmerman; and one great-grandson, Jonah Zimmerman.

She was predeceased by a brother, Lloyd Parrott; her sisters, Edith Smith, Mary Louise Dobson and Ruth Evans; and one grandson, John R. Leonard.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Trappe United Methodist Church, Trappe, MD. Burial will be private.
