Carol Thorn passed away peacefully from breast cancer on Sunday, October 5, 2014.

She was born January 4, 1956 a daughter of the late Bob and Muriel Baker, Carol blessed them as their only child.

Carol was employed with the DuPont Company in the Library Sciences and Information Network for 29 years and continued employment with Delta Engineering until her passing.

She was a member of St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church and St. Matthew's BVM Sodality. Carol's passions were her family, cooking and loved to entertain and for many years, volunteered in her children's sports programs.

Carol is survived by her husband and partner for over 30 years, James Thorn; her daughter, Megan McMackin and husband, James; her son, Ryan D. Thorn; her two little Princess granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Leah McMackin and her best friend, Jane Chickadel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Wilmington De. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 6 until 8 pm at the NICHOLS-GILMORE FUNERAL HOME, 212 E. Justis Street, Newport DE where a Vigil Prayer will be said at 7 pm. Burial will be at Delaware Veterans Cemetery. The family requests donations in Carol's memory be made to St. Matthews Church, Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor, Newark DE 19711 or the Helen Graham Center, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Rd, Newark De. 19713.
