She married Matthew McClain 27 April 1809 at Ohio, Kentucky; they later divorced.
She married (2) widower, Hugh MCGary Jr. 7 September 1826 at Vanderburg County, Indiana. Several histories claim that she died the following year of "fever".
This has come into question because of reports of scandals regarding her divorce from the missing first husband and other events in their lives. The undetermined fate of second husband, Hugh McGary, also adds mystery to both of their death dates and burial places.
Adding to speculation is the official United States Census Record, 1850, of Clear Creek, Washington, Arkansas enumerating their daughter, Keturah or Kitteree and her Graham family in household 58 - including a "F"emale, about "60" years old , born "Kentucky", named: "Mary Mcgarrah".
If this census entry is in fact, Mary "Polly" Blevins McClain McGary, she did not die in 1827 at Vanderburg, Indiana.
Because of this unsolved mystery of the dates and locations of the deaths of both Mary and Hugh McGary, it has not been concluded that either of them are actually buried here.
