Ezra was the son of Paul and Thelma Utterback Bastin, one of 12 children.

He was a mechanic, heavy equipment operator and jack-of-all-trades. He was a well-known stock car driver at the local tracks in the 60's and '70s. He loved to dance, listen to country music, ride his 4-wheeler and was a gentle giant who loved to be around kids. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #1081 and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife Kay, seven children, Ezra, Jr., Mike, Ronnie, Debbie, Jackie, Denton and Sheri. Three brothers, John, Ira and Philip; five sisters, Mary Henry, Ruth Dubbles, Elizabeth Caves, Rachel Basicker and Esther Jackson; 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 31 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, David, Paul and Ray.

Ezra's family would like to thank Caregivers, Inc., who gave respite care to the family, IU Health Progressive Care staff and the staff at the IU Health Hospice House.

Graveside services with be 11 a.m. Wednesday September 3 at Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday September 2, 4-8 p.m. at the Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard.

Memorials may be given to the IU Health Hospice House or the Alzheimer's Association.
