MILLER - Edith Elizabeth Gustafson Miller of Grand Rapids Township, born November 12, 1925 in Walker Township, passed into the Lord's presence on May 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by her son, David John Miller; mother, Elizabeth Stover Gustafson; father, Hugo A. Gustafson and brother, Daniel Gustafson. Edith's greatest joy was her family and she eagerly welcomed each new member. She will be sorely missed by her husband of 63 years, [Name removed], and her children: [Names removed] Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister, [Name removed]; sister-in-law, [Name removed]and numerous nieces and nephews. Edith, a 1943 alumni of Central High School graduated as a Registered Nurse from Butterworth School of Nursing in 1946. She received a Bachelors of Science degree in 1989 from Aquinas College. She practiced her profession of nursing at area hospitals. She served as Butterworth Hospital's first head nurse of their Pediatrics ICU and many years on the pediatric nursing staff. Edith retired from Butterworth in 1996. A dedicated member of Grace Episcopal Church, she shared her love of Music as a choir member for over 50 years. She served on the vestry, was a Sr. Warden, and enjoyed the fellowship of St. Luke's Guild. During winter months (after retiring) she sang with the choir of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Golf Shores, AL and participated in a Dulcimer group. Edith had a great capacity for making and maintaining friendships. She found great joy in sharing and lending a helping hand. A memorial service will be held on May 25, at 11 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, Edith asked for donations to Grace Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, its St. Lukes Guild or a charity of one's choosing. The family is being served by Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service
