He was a US Army veteran, proudly serving from 1972-1976. He served in Korea.
Born in Spokane, Washington to Franklin N. Armenta [2010] and Charlotte Mae (Beckham) Johnson [1989]. He married Nancy Castillo on Oct 21, 1978, in Yakima, WA., she survives.
Also surviving are his sons; David Tate, Jeremiah and Zachariah Armenta; and daughter, Michelle Herbert. Rickey was blessed with 16 grandkids, he loved his family dearly.
Rickey was a soccer and baseball coach for over 7 seasons, guiding youth in skills and sportsmanship, as well as teaching them life skills. He had a unique capability of evaluating things and figuring out an easier and smarter way of getting great results. He endured a terminal illness and internal demons for 26 years before the Lord called him home.
Rickey was loved dearly, admired by all the kids he coached, will be sadly missed, and will be remembered forever.
Memorial Service was held at Port Orchard Church of Christ at 1 p.m. on Oct. 11, 2014.
