Born August 27, 1941, in Distant, he was the son of Clayton and Lois Shumaker Colwell.
Mr. Colwell graduated from Redbank Valley High School, Class of 1959. He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Colwell retired from Verizon after 40 years of service.
He enjoyed golfing, watching his Patriots and Red Sox, and spending time with his family and dog, Bojangles.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; four daughters, Jennifer, Jessica, Rachel and Nicole, all of the Rhode Island area; two brothers, George Fackender of New Bethlehem, and George Colwell and his wife, Janet, of Olney, Md.; and a sister, Eleanor Shaffer of Knox.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Fackender; and a sister, Nancy Hodgson.
A private service will be held in Rhode Island.
