Betty B. Miller, age 80, of 1234 Westwood Lane, Manitowoc, died Monday morning, March 20, 2006, at her residence.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1925, in West Milwaukee, daughter of the late Mathew and Florence (Hoffman) Barkley. Betty was a graduate of West Milwaukee High School, Class of 1942. She then attended Beloit College for one year and in 1945 received a Bachelor of Sociology Degree from UW - Madison. In May 1946 she married Karl Miller in Milwaukee. The couple resided in Madison from 1946 to 1949, Eau Claire from 1949 to 1951 and Manitowoc from 1951 to present. In 1964 Betty received an Associates Degree in Library Science from Silver Lake College. Starting in 1966 she was a librarian at Lakeland College. Then in 1973 she was employed as a librarian at the Manitowoc Public Library until her retirement in 1987. Betty was a member of AAUW, American Association of University Women. She loved to play bridge and create beautiful needlepoint. Betty was also a great sports fan. During their retirements, Betty and Karl especially enjoyed their vacation trips to the Southwest each year for spring training.

Survivors include her husband, Karl Miller, Manitowoc; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Mark Miller, a resident of Wisconsin and Arizona; Kurt and Kathryn Miller, Kohler; two grandchildren: Alison Johnson and her husband, Joe, Sheboygan Falls; Lauren Miller, at home and a great-granddaughter: Katelynn Johnson. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Megan Barkley, and a brother-in-law, David.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Steve Olson with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 23, 2006, until the time of service at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be sent to Aurora Hospice or American Cancer Society.
