Marcelle Vaughn Anderson passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Houston, Texas on September 9, 2014. She was born in Loreauville, Louisiana, December 7, 1919.
Marcelle had been a long time resident of Port Arthur, Texas, from the time her family moved here in 1923 from Louisiana.
Marcelle is preceded in death by her parents, Claiborne and Regina Vaughn; brothers Camay and Steven Vaughn; sister, Evelyn Vaughn Moore Cordeau; and husband, James Columbus Anderson.
Marcelle is survived by her brother Harry Vaughn of Port Arthur, Texas, her daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Stephen Goodson of Houston, Texas; her two grandchildren, Leslie Regina and James Joel Goodson, both from Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
Marcelle was a long-time employee of the City’s public library before retiring at the age of 70. She was a wonderfully generous and fun friend to all, a kind and gentle grandmother, and delightful mother.
Marcelle was an exceptionally sweet person who will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Graveside services to be held on October 4th at 11:00 AM, with Father David Placett officiating.
