Theresa L. (Basso) Sabia, 92, of Pineridge Road, Torrington, died Saturday, (May 28, 2005) at the Adams House Convalescent Home. She was the wife of the late Joseph M. ''Pat'' Sabia, Sr. Born April 5, 1913 in Torrington, she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Carmella (Sica) Basso. She was a member of the St. Anne's Society, a communicant of St. Peter Church and was a member of the Sullivan Senior Center. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, she loved to cook, and she was an avid New York Yankee fan. Her hobbies included knitting and sewing as well as making afghans for her family. She is survived by two sons, Joseph M. Sabia Jr. of Torrington, Daniel R. Sabia and his wife Patricia of Glastonbury; a brother, William Basso of Heber City, UT; a sister, Rose Lukcso of Torrington; two granddaughters, Emily Sabia, Melanie Sabia as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony Basso, Louis Basso and one sister, Mary Balsamo. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, at 9:30 a.m. from The LaPorta-Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, to St. Peter Church, East Main Street, Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 31, from 7- 9 p.m. at The LaPorta-Cook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home Visiting Nurse Services, 62 Commercial Blvd., Torrington, CT 06790.
