Robert J. Schuster, 73, and Julie Schuster, 69, 3925 Creston St., formerly of Dyersville, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 1, 1995, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident at the intersection of U.S. 20 West and Hilltop Road, just outside of East Dubuque, Ill.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. Burial will be in the church cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 137 of Dyersville. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4:30 p.m. and an American Legion Post 137 service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Schuster was an investment broker, vice president and regional manager of the Offerman Co. Inc.

Mrs. Schuster was a homemaker.

He was born on May 10, 1922, in Dyersville, son of August "Gus" and Christina (Till) Schuster.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1926, in Lawrence, Neb., daughter of Henry and Lena (Kimminau) Mertens.

They were married Oct. 27, 1947, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence. They moved to Dyersville and eventually to Dubuque and were members of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, American Legion Post 137 and the Civilian Conservation Corps 66.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary (Mrs. Jonathan) Soo and Roxanne (Mrs. Scott) McDole, both of Dubuque; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Schuster also is survived by four sisters, Betty (Mrs. Art) Kronlage and Lucille (and the late Robert) Meyers, both of Dyersville, Kathleen (and the late James) Klaus, of Earlville, and Donna Jean (Mrs. Clyde) Cook, of Oxford, Miss. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Delbert, John J. and Carlton Schuster, and three sisters, Bernadine Schuster, Mary Jane Hickerson and Lou Mae Maxwell.

Mrs. Schuster also is survived by three brothers, Jim (Delores), Edwin (Margie) and Arnold (Irene) Mertens, all of Lincoln, Neb.
