COMPOTARO, EDWARD F., 53, of Rockway, died Wednesday in the St. Claire Hospital in Denville. Ed was born & raised in Vineland and had resided in Vineland for 40 years. He was a 1967 graduate of Vineland High School.
Ed was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War serving for eight years. He later enlisted in the US Navy in 1981 serving for 12 years. He served during Desert Storm aboard the U.S.S. Sarotoga. At one time, he had worked as a projections operator at the Landis Theatre where he had also worked a manager for ten years. He was a member of the Local Union #462 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees & Moving Pictures Machine Operators of the United States & Canada.
He is survived by one son: Michael Edward, Rockway; one daughter: Cherie Compotaro, Denton, Texas; mother & step-father: Nellie & Frank Garretson, Vineland; brother: David L. Weller, Vineland; several nieces & nephews.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1 PM in the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 South Main Road, Vineland, where friends will be received from 11 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, NJ Region, P.O. Box 820, Browns Mills, NJ 08015-0820.
