Betty Jo Mason, 86, Columbia, MO., passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 10:15 P.M. at the side of her daughter Melanie and son Tracy at home.
Betty Jo Mason was born June 6, 1928 in Red Onion, Arkansas, the daughter of Glen Glasgow and Della Hyde Metheny.
She married Harold Eugene “Pepsi” Mason December 4, 1948 and he preceded her in death on November 13, 1987.
Jo taught school for many years. She taught English at Hickman and Jefferson Junior retiring in 1985. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed attending church.
Survivors include son: Tracy Mason and his wife Rachel.
Daughter: Melanie Spradling and her husband, Stuart Jr.
Brother: Larry Metheny and his wife Ann.
Sister: Sonja Hosman.
Five grandchildren: Samantha, Stephanie, Stuart III, Brock and Kaylin.
Three great-grandchildren also survive: Ashley, Joseph and Daden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Arrangements were by the Nilson Funeral Home in Columbia, Missouri. Graveside services were at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.
