Vivenna "Vi" Abernathy
Vivenna "Vi" Abernathy, 93, died at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007. She was born Feb. 25, 1914, in Covington to Roby Abernathy and Anna Long Abernathy.
Survivors include three nieces, Marcy Boyll, Mary Francis, and Jennie Ashe and her husband Tony; four nephews and their wives, Ray and Kathy Francis, Brian and Michele Francis, Gene and Mary Abernathy and Dennis and Audrey Abernathy; several great-nieces and great-nephews; several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and her church family. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Della Francis; and two brothers, Carl Abernathy and Marcel Abernathy.
She was a member of Prairieton United Methodist Church and various organizations throughout her lifetime. She volunteered with Altrusa, in Vigo County elementary schools, at church and gave herself to those in need. She prayerfully made and donated receiving quilts to more than 200 infants in the Wabash Valley. Vi also walked with the Lord.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Drive, with the Rev. Ford Bond officiating. Burial is in Prairieton Cemetery.
