DOANE, JUANITA FIELDEN was born in 1923 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was the 5th child of Robert Fielden, Sr., and Ruthie Carden Fielden. She went to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 28, 2009. "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away." Rev. 21:4. Juanita moved to Anderson County with her family in the 1930's. A graduate of Clinton High School where she was on the Yearbook Staff and named Sophomore Queen. After graduation she began work at Magnet Knitting Mills (hosiery) in Clinton. Juanita always possessed a strong work ethic and became one of the top employees in the seaming department, where they were paid according to their production. She was at the Mill approximately 20 years and left to move to Jefferson County where she married a dairy farmer/politician named J. N. Doane. They had known each other at Claxton Elementary before his family moved to Jefferson County. This opened a new phase of her life being a full-time wife and mother. To say she was a good cook would be an understatement. Her ham biscuits, tenderloin, gravy and biscuits and pecan pies were legendary. She was always happy to share her recipes but no one could replicate her pecan pies. When she came back to Clinton in the '80s, she spent a lot of time gardening with her neighbors Lillian and G. D. Carroll and also helping her siblings with the care of their mother, Ruthie, who lived to be 103. Juanita was a member of Second Baptist Church but attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church in South Clinton for the past several years. Juanita is predeceased by parents, Robert Sr. and Ruthie Fielden, brothers and sisters-in-law, D. L. "Jody" and Mildred, Carl & Effie Mae, and Robert, Jr., brothers-in-law, Claude Alley, Milo Crumpley and Bill Mason, nephews, Ronnie, Jimmy Ray and Jerry Fielden, niece, Sandra Fielden. She is survived by brothers, Glenn & wife Carolyn, Leslie & wife Jean of Clinton; sisters, Helen Crumpley of Clinton & Mary Ruth Mason of Texas and sister-in-law Bette Fielden of Texas; daughters, Sharon Portwood Moore and her husband, Sammy of Morristown and Carol Doane Dobyns and her husband, John of North Carolina; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews including special nieces Shanna Lockhart of Claxton, Cheryl Loy and Lisa Mefford of Clinton. The family would like to thank the staff of NHC Healthcare and Hospice (CARIS) for their loving care and compassion during Juanita's illness. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. Funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Pastor Clayton Duncan officiating. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens on Edgemoor Road, with the Rev. Mike Thompson officiating. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements. "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." Proverbs 31:10.
