Jane Caroline Harris, daughter of George and Rebecca Harris, was born near Bentley, Hancock County, Illinois, May 8, 1864, and passed away September 23, 1942. In 1866 she moved with her parents to Allen County, Kansas, settling on the Harris farm where Charles Harris now resides. She was one of a family of 11 children of which six preceded her in death.
She was married to Mark D Castator January 1, 1884, who preceded her in death three years ago. Five children were born to this union of which two survive, Allen of the home and Mrs Hester Heath of Wichita. Also a niece, Mrs. Nieta Leake, Iola; three grandchildren, Mrs. Beulah Thormann, Winter Park, Fla; Robert M Castator, Iola, Natalia Leake, Iola; two great grandchildren, Baxter Lee and David Joe Thormann, Winter Park, Fla.;
two brothers George Harris, Garberville, Calif., and Charles F Harris, Iola; two sisters, Mrs Mary McCutchan, Santa Rose, Calif., Mrs. Rebecca Finch, Piqua, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends. She was a loving wife and mother and a friend to all who knew her.
