Rosaleen Barnes Nicholson 93, Danville, passed away on May 26, 2007 in Westside Retirement Village.
She was born on February 7, 1914 in Clayton, Indiana to Jesse M. and Vena Alcorn Barnes.
She married Richard Nicholson on June 26, 1938 in Martinsville, Indiana. Born in Hendricks County, Rosaleen lived in the county her entire life with the exception of 10 years spent in Greencastle. A teacher by trade, she worked in the educational system for 32 years in schools in Cartersburg, Clayton, and Danville. As a primary grade teacher, Rosaleen loved the first grade because, as she aptly put it, "You can see them learn." Rosaleen's four children have been a source of joy and fulfillment for her. She willingly shares that her children are very good to her, making life as comfortable as possible for her. There are two sons and two daughters, living all across the country: daughter Kay lives in Deland, Florida; daughter Marianne in Greenwood, IN; son Lee in Cincinnati, Ohio; and son Ray in Plano, Texas. These locations have offered Rosaleen lots of opportunities for travel. She also has three grandsons, two great-grandsons, and two great-granddaughters. At the wonderful age of 93, Rosaleen is the first to say that she's had a good life and enjoyed life as best she could.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with Pastor Michael Thornburg officiating. Burial will follow in Mill Creek Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 29, 2007 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mill Creek Cemetery.
