After their marriage July 1929, Jess and "Gwynn" (as she called him) served in Tallinn [Estonia], Paris [France], Riga [Latvia], Paris again; Beirut [Lebanon], Damascus [Syria], Beirut in addition to duties at Damascus, Athens [Greece], Salonika [today called Thessalonika - Greece], Leopoldville [Zaire], the Dept., Nice [France] and Monaco. June 1953 Foreign Service Journal: Consul General William M. Gwynn, retired FSO, died at his home in Palma de Mallorca, Balearics, Spain on April 2, 1953 after an illness of three months. Mr. Gwynn's last assignment was Consul General at Nice.

His wife, Jess B. Gwynn's garden marker was placed on her husband W. M. Gwynn's marker in Palma de Mallorca. It was photographed there by Eduardo Ortiz Aragón, Jan 2019.
