Betty Jeanette Johnston, 89, was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Norton, Ohio, to Francis Arnold Gritton and Theresa Emma Kirstahler. She passed away Oct. 7, 2014, in Lancaster, Calif.
Betty lived previously in Kingman for many years and was known throughout her community for her service and love shown to all.
She married George James Johnston in 1941 in Ohio and they were married for 73 years before his passing in June of 2013.
Betty was a member of Stockton Hill Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a member of the church since 1961. She was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.
Betty is survived by three daughters, Barbara McCormick of Kingman, Patricia Reed of Lancaster, and Penny Lewis and her husband Kenneth of Cedar City, Utah; eight grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Betty will be held 9:30 a.m. on Friday Oct. 17, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1961 West Washburn Road, North Las Vegas, Nev., with a visitation starting at 9 a.m. in the church. Interment will take place at 1:20 p.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan, Boulder City, Nev., 89006.
