George W. Burns, 72,
died at his home in Smithsburg Monday night from paralysis, aged 72 years.
Surviving are his widow, sons, Elmer, Waynesboro, and Keller at home; stepson, Charles, Smithsburg; daughter, Mrs. Lillian Brown, Ellerton, Frederick county; brother, Charles Burns and sisters, Mrs. Laura Frankenbury and Mrs. Belia Becker, all of Martinsburg and sister, Mrs. Emma Burgesser, Smithsburg.
Funeral Thursday, services at the M. E. church, Smithsburg, at 10 a.m., by Rev. Mr. Webb; interment at Bethel church. His sister, Mrs. G. W. Harter, Edgemont, was buried Tuesday. For a number of years, Mr. Burns lived along the road leading from Smithsburg to Wolfsville, just where the road enters the woods and leads up the mountain grade. He is reported as having a record of cutting six cords of wood in one day.
