He attended the public schools of Dougherty County Public and Monroe High School where he participated in numerous school activities. Henry confessed Christ as his personal Saviour at an early age and joined Union Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1994, he was united in holy matrimony to Julia Moore.
On Monday, August 25, 2014, Henry transitioned from this earthly life to his eternal home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Sheila and Jesse Hawkins.
Henry leaves a legacy of love to his wife Julia Hawkins; four children Alisone (Barry) Harp, Terrance (Danara) Jackson, Kendra (Marcus) McCoy and Robert (Jaquella) Jackson; ten siblings, Solomon (Wendy) Hawkins, Margarette Hawkins, Verdell Nix, Donna K. Hawkins, Gerald Hawkins, Sherald Hawkins, Joe Nathan Hawkins, Rose Mary (Charles) Jackson, Theresa (Fred) Parker, and Gregory Hawkins; twenty-one grandchildren; one great grandchild; a special niece and nephew, Tammy Hawkins and Donnell Samson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 3:30 PM at New Jerusalem Pentecostal Church Of God In Christ, 2115 South Madison Street. Pastor Jerry Cochran, Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow in the Union Memorial Cemetery, 1100 South McKinley Street. Visitation will be held today, Friday, August 29, 2014 from 10:00AM until 8:30PM at M. L. King Southside Chapel, 1908 M. L. King, Jr. Drive. The family will receive friends at 1024 Davidson Drive Apt. B.
