Eric Joseph Burchett

Eric Joseph Burchett was born in London, England, September 28, 1885, and died at Pagosa Springs, Colorado, December 6, 1918, aged 33 years, two months and 8 days.

He was the youngest son of Mr. E. S. Burchett. He came to this country at the age of 13 years [20?], residing at Des Moines until the last two years, when he went to the sanitorium at Oakdale, Iowa, his health having failed him, for treatment of tuberculosis. Not gaining very much there, he went to Pagosa Springs, where he thought he would be benefited. Being there only a short time he was taken ill with the influenza and after two weeks of suffering, he passed into the great beyond.

He was united in marriage to Inez I. Keen, at Des Moines, Iowa July 3rd, 1906. To this union were born three sons and one daughter, Everett Stanley, Leonard Leslie, Harold Wayne, and Iris Evelyn. Iris having died in infancy.

He was raised up in the Catholic faith until he united with the Christian Church at Highland Park, Des Moines, of which he was a faithful member until his death.

He was well known through church circles as he possessed a beautiful tenor voice, and was always ready to render service whenever needed, not only with his voice, but in every way.

He leaves to mourn his loss besides his wife and children, a mother, three brothers and one sister, and a host of relatives and friends. His mother, two brothers and one sister reside in Birmingham, England, and one brother in France.

He will be greatly missed in his home, and by all who knew him. He was a kind father, and loving husband, and always was ready to give a helping hand whenever needed.

The body was brought to Indianola for interment, reaching here Sunday, December 14th.
