William "Keith" Stamey, 80, of Asheville, died Sunday, October 12, 2014, at JF Keever Solace Center.

Born in Avery County to the late William H. and Glessie Mae Bailey Stamey, he worked as a Lab Tech at the Veterans Hospital, was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved music. He was a member of Reynolds Baptist Church and served as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and in Japan.

He is preceded in death by daughter, Kimberly Stamey Hallman who died in 2007.

Surviving is his wife, Louetta Griffith Stamey; son, Mark Stamey and his wife Dawn of Linville Falls; daughter, Kelley Tsika and her husband, Thomas of Midfield, TX; seven grandchildren, Lauren and Madison Stamey; Shelby, Jake and Kadie Tsika; Chloe and Daniel Hallman; step-sister, Mary Anne White of Johnson City, TN; son-in-law, Ben Hallman of Mills River.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road. Rev. Bobby Smith will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 - 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
