William Daniel Sherwood was the son of Joseph "Josey" Sherwood and Caroline Wykle Sherwood, who were married 1856 by Rev William Smith. Joseph Sherwood was from Ireland, his parents were Patrick and A.M. Sherwood. He also had a brother, Daniel Sherwood.

Whereas, Rebecca Nowlan, parents were John Nowlan (d.1876) and Florence Graham (b. 1.31.1805) who had married in 1835. William Sherwood and Mary Hedrick, they were married by J. R. Van Horn.
He had been a farmer. He was 67 years old at the time of death.
