Abraham M. Kirdendall, about 78 years of age, died this forenoon at the home of his son Ollie, where he had been making his home, 526 N. 2nd. St. He had been suffering the past couple weeks with chronic stomach trouble. It was thought during the night that he was doing fairly well but this morning he had a relapse. He is an Old Soldier [participant]. He has a son at Exline, a daughter at Mendota, Mo., and a daughter at Connellsville, Mo., besides his son here. His wife also survives him. The funeral will probably be sometime Sunday, but the place of the burial has not been decided, as it may be at Concord Cemetery [likely Caldwell, Iowa] where a 4 year old daughter [Rebecca] is buried.

IOWA THIRTEENTH INFANTRYMAN

Abraham M. Kirkendall, was born in Ohio and at age 30 was a resident of Farmington Village, Van Buren County, Iowa. He Enlisted and Mustered on the same day, Nov. 2, 1864 into the Iowa 13th Infantry Regiment, Company E. He Mustered out on July 21, 1865, Louisville, Kentucky.

His Civil War Pension Application # 736308 was Sept 16, 1891 and an increase was requested on Mar 4, 1907. After his death, his widow, Amanda C. Kirkendall applied for a Widows Pension #732846 on July 15, 1910.
