Verlon Christopher Adams, 60 of Connersville passed away at 5:27 PM Saturday, January 15, 2011 at the Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.

He was born May 14, 1950 in Jeremiah, KY, the son of Verlon Columbus and Elsie Ruth Jackson Adams and as a child, he moved with his family to the Brookville, IN area.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was stationed in Yuma Arizona.

He had been employed for an off-shore oil rig in Texas and had also worked in the construction industry. For a number of years, he was employed at Visteon as a fork-lift operator.

He had attended Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed carpentry projects, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons, Captain Gene Adams, USAF and wife, Amparo of Tuscon, AZ and Curt Adams and wife, Melissa of Lynn, IN; eight grandchildren, Timone, Mackenzie, Sage, Sam, Cameron, Kevin, Shelby and Lindsay Adams; a brother, Tom Witt and wife, Michele, Connersville; five sisters, Sherry Plummer of Connersville, Polly Brooks and husband, Jim of West Elkton, OH, Sheila Peckenpaugh and husband, Steve of New Castle, IN, Sylvia Wadle and husband, Larry of Connersville and June Demoss of Oldenburg, IN; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Verlon Adams; his step-father and mother, John and Elsie Witt; two brothers, Roger Adams and Joe Adams.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Eastside Pentecostal Church with Rev. David Isaacs officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by the Fayette County Veterans Council will be in Laurel North Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service on Monday.
