His family moved to Kuna and he grew as the only boy surrounded by the love and attention of his seven sisters.
He attended school in Kuna and met his wife of 43 years, Edith Coy Anderson, there. Together they raised five children.
David loved to work and he enjoyed various occupations in support of his family, but none more than farming. Being close to the land allowed him to be close to the Lord.
His joy in life was serving others. He did so in various capacities: through volunteer work in the community, from firefighting to fundraising, and in numerous church callings including serving as a much loved primary teacher and many years as a Bishop, where he loved very many as father of the ward. Ultimately, and above all, Grandpa cherished his 14 grandchildren.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Izetta.
He is survived by his wife, Coy; their children, Brent and Laura Abbott; Jeff and Paula Abbott; Lisa and Bill Ybanez; Nikki and Kevin McCain; Todd and Ashley Abbott; and by his sisters, Ideana, Sydna, Erva, Lella, Artricia and Sheila, and by numerous nieces and nephews and many very wonderful friends.
A viewing is May 27 at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, and Wednesday at the church. Funeral services are May 28 at the Kuna LDS Stake Center. Burial in the Kuna Cemetery.
